The pump is used to measure the vacuum pressure and linear increase in the DPF sensor voltage, which should increase to 4.5 V approximately.

Also the OCR only shows up when it is in park. It won't show up at 100% if you are driving. I use the OCR if the filter is at 100% and i don't have a highway trip planned that will complete a full regen. That way I don't drive it just to complete a regen and put the extra miles on it.
