I did it on 10 characters but don't have the add-on installed. I did get the Helm, Sword, Pet and 60% mount out of the RDF reward. Only ever rolled on rings off of the boss. There are guides to get it. Try and get an up to date one because it got easier to get earlier this year thanks to a few new achievements that reward you with the materials you need for one of the collection needed to unlock the mount. It's still quite a draining grind to unlock tho.

Ground mounts can do a special animation with simply 'spacebar', but flying mounts will take off into the sky 1. create a macro for. /mountspecial. 2. ensure your flying mount is on the ground. 3. click on your macro. your mount will rear/roar/etc. some mounts have sound, some do not. enjoy! bonus: use deepstone oil for added effect!
In order to get the Skimmer, you’ll need a raptor with Canyon Jump unlocked. Once you reach the area, head south to the Skimmer Ranch. It’s on the coast, west of Vulture Drifts.
